With the maginificant Trump Turnberry facility you get a championship course that has held the Open Championship on 4 occasions, most recently in 2009. The Ailsa is world famous in every sense of the word with the lighthouse an icon of Scottish golf. There is a second championship course, the Kintyre, although it doesn't have the history and sheer magnitude of The Ailsa course. It still offers breathtaking 360* views of the surrounding landscape and sea over to Ailsa Craig. This is a fully challenging and authentic links golf experience on a fantastic course.... and its easier on the wallet too! All photos bordering this page are of Trump Turnberry.
The birthplace of the Open Golf Championship, Old Prestwick held the first Open in 1860 and went on to hold another 23. The course is easily reached, just over 3 miles from the Coorie, Old Prestwick offers one of the toughest tests in golf. Its a pristinely kept course that is draped in history. Hence the reason golfers come from all over the globe to play it.... and indulge in the notoriously luxurious luncheon. Ernie Els said " Old Prestwick is one of the best golfing experiences on the planet".
Yet another world class course within 10 miles of the Coorie Nook is Royal Troon. A top class course that last hosted the Open in 2004 and will host golf's most historic major again in 2016, that will be the 9th time the Open Championship has visited Royal Troon. There are two course at Troon, the Old Course, the Championship course, and also Troon Portland.

South Ayrshire Courses
There are also several municipal courses in South Ayshire all within 20 mins with the exception of Girvan that is about 30 mins. The two municipal courses in Ayr are Seafield which is an enjoyable experiance for any calibre of golfer at a very reasonable price. The second is Belleisle which is a much longer course and is in extremely good order. This is a much longer course than Seafield and its at a fraction of the price of some of the championship courses nearby, however it has been used as an open qualifier in the past. These courses are within a mile of the Coorie Nook, they are based in Belleisle park and share the same starters office. There is also a pro shop on site run very well by the in house pro, Richard. This is the closest pro shop to the Coorie. There is a driving range and very hilly course at Roodlea just outside of Ayr on the way to Coylton. This is 3.5 miles away.

Dundonald, Kings Barns and Western Gailes are three highly coveted private courses located to the north of Ayr, which are challenging for any golfer. Beautifully manicured and excellently maintained, it is no surprise that these courses have hosted open qualifiers and the ladies Scottish Open between them.
